FL Need to replace drivers side regulator and or motor.

Néed to replace the drivers side regulator and or motor for the window. Should I buy what I need from Mazada for this or get the proper parts elsewhere at a lower cost? Actually like half the price. Anybody have any thoughts on this please let me know.

That's not such a dumb question. Official OEM-brand electrical parts tend to be overpriced. Take a look at Rock Auto - their on-line catalog is well organized - and see if they have a third party motor for less than what Mazda wants. Or see what Autozone or Advance Auto Parts might have.

Thank you. Got a good price from AutoZone. Regulator $71, motor $56 with a $23 core charge. Better than a total $290 from Mazda.

Replaced the motor only. A friend took off the door panel. I was was afraid I would break something. Put a new motor on from autozone. Bam! 20 minutes and done. Did not need the regulator. Total cost. $56. Freaking mechanic wanted $390. Said I need the motor and a regulator. Can't trust anybody these days.

Congratulations....you just learned the first rule of RX8 ownership. Never trust a corner garage mechanic too far. Most are like dealers: throw parts (and your money) at it til the problem goes away. Better to diagnose the issue yourself and then proceed with either a DIY or an educated trip to the repair shop.
