Need help please! (in a crash)
I was rear ended in a snow storm and it was considered a no-fault accident by the trooper at the scene. That being said, I'm going to try to fix it myself without reporting it to insurance as to save money in the long run. Where can I save some money on a rear bumper and rear drivers side tail light for a 2007? I've looked around a bit and the cheapest tail light I can find is $130 and the cheapest rear bumper is over $300. I appreciate any help I can get as money is tight. Thanks!

Your insurance should not increase, you were not at fault. It is unlikely that you will get it fixed for less than your deductible, unless your deductible is more than $1,000, assuming that the bumper and light are really the only things that need repairing, and not the trunk, crash bar, or rear quarter panel too....

Also, do get your rear suspension inspected. I had a light crash in my ford, thought it was just the bumper turend out my rear suspension components were damaged as well..
Since you are not at fault, your insurance company will be happy to assist you, because they will charge the other guy's insurance company. Atleast that's how it worked for me in Canada.
Wish you all the best

Since the trooper said no-fault, nobody is to blame and the other insurance company won't want to cough up. mttjklly will be out his decuctable, but his rates should not increase if he's insured with a decent company. A decent insurance company can be an asset, since they'll work with the body shop chasing parts and looking for hidden damage. Yes, they'll go low bucks on the parts but that's the path mt was planning on.
A hidden value of having collision coverage is that if your car gets hit you don't have to hire a lawyer on the property damage side. They provide that. Valuable if there's a dispute, like if you encounter a trooper who thinks snow is an excuse for a dingbat to follow too closely and rear end an innocent victim.

Even though insurance rate for people covered for a no-fault accident doesn't increase right away, I think actuary calculations work in such a way that any reported collisions will be used determine whether to raise rates across the board for a specific demographic.
I'm no means suggesting that people should claim or not claim, but simply saying that it likely will affect your (and others in similar demographic) premiums sometime somehow.
