Need advice, longtime owner.

Hello, I own a 2008 Rx8 GT, I bought it in 2010 when it only had 20k miles on it. I’ve babied it all the way up until she went down here recently. Awhile ago I got a cel that read intake manifold stuck open so I did some research, got some sea foam and ran that through, it actually cleared the the cel. Now I’m back to driving it. All of a sudden, bam cuts off during idle at a red light, have to wait for it to cool down and then it starts back up. She’s been sitting for a couple months and I’ve worked on her here and there. Added new plugs, changed the coils not long before it went down, changed out the ESS, now it took a minute to start but eventually did so I let it idle awhile. It’s actually idling while it’s hot now but when I turn on interior lights, ac the idle starts bouncing around and when I pulled out it didn’t take long to bog out. Then when I went to start it back I just got a click click and I assumed it was the battery cable.

Btw: compression is good, battery is new, ess new, brand new maf, cat wasn’t glowing after a half hour of idling,

could the seafoam have done something?
I get the blinking cel + battery light while I’m cranking it but then it goes away after it gets started..

im looking for any advice, I’m kind of short on money to take it to the dealership or mechanic and this thing is my baby.

appreciate any advice on this matter.

So you are sure the battery cable is attached rigidly?

Another thing I can think of is the fuel pump. If your compression is good then that's another possibility for poor hot starting performance.

Only two things I can think is a fuel delivery problem or a Catalytic Converter failure. These are more likely to cause issues if you have a good battery. Hard to diagnose without being there but I would still drop the cat. Mine did a lot of the things you mentioned but ran perfectly once I straight piped it.

Thanks for the replies, I’m going out there in the morning and tracing the battery cables, make sure they’re cleaned and tight then take the cat off and put a mid pipe in considering I’m in Kentucky and don’t really need it anyways.
