IE My RX8

Hello everyone and delighted to have found and register on this forum. Out of pure curiosity and with the expectation that my newly purchased - 12months ago now! (2006 - 6-speed manual) RX8 with almost 100,000 miles on the clock would need a rebuild I made the investment for the small figure of just 1,500euros. The day the car arrived the cooling fans were going ballistic (after a 2.5hr drive) - I asked the previous owner to deliver it! So I knew this in itself could not be good and found that the thermostat was stuck closed...why do they never stick over
Anyway that fixed and all the fluids etc. done on the car it ran very well for the next couple of months - the only thing I did notice that when driving at around 40mph a slight lurching in the drive of the car but faster or slower seem to be noticeable.
At Christmas the car was left idle for maybe two or three days, without being started, and I had notice, pretty much since I got the car quite a considerable amount of milkyness on the dip stick. My suspicion is that seals had perished with the, who knows how long, stuck thermostat. Trying to start the car now became impossible. Tried all the usual tricks but no matter what I did the engine would not re-fire and showed absolutely no attempt. It was flooding big time and even getting it towed to kick start it did not bring any life into the old girl so there and then I deemed her to be either scrap or a project...SO! - guess which decision I've taken
At the moment I am half way through getting the engine out to see what the inner bowels of it looks like and then to make a final call on it and decide if it is worth proceeding any further...I love a good challenge, but I have my limitations when it comes to how deep the pocket can be
So I hope to post lots of questions and get great advice from all members as this project unfolds or collapses!
