Have you read the new owner's thread yet? Has a section on flooding, and how you can prevent it.

The link in my signature under any of my posts, the sticky in this subforum, the big red letter announcement at the top of this subforum next to the "New Thread" button.

When you are done with the procedure,

Check out the $100 thread in my signature. It has a lot of little things you can do with an 04 to clean up 10 years worth of crap. Then, you will likely need coils (autozone) and maybe plugs.

Welcome to the group.

Diego-

A Mazda "part" that reduces odds of flooding is the flash done as part of Emissions Recall 4206f, which includes delaying injector squirting on startup. The changes are part of the MSP-16 update cited in RI's excellent thread. If your call to Mazda USA reveals that has not been done, definitely get it. The bulletin is on this site, among the TSBs (Technical Service Bulletins). Freebie, even if out of warranty.
