Is my MPG's normal or is there a problem with my 8??

Hi,

I don't know if this is normal but at best i can only get 150miles off a full tank of petrol (£80=60ltrs). Now that is ALL in city driving and yes i drive my 8 ARDD like its meant to be driven. I mean dont get me wrong i dont set out to redline everywhere on average i change gears at about 3000rpm but i have alot of bursts where i will change gear at 6-7000rpm and occassionally 9000rpm (redline) in 1st or 2nd.. Now even if i drive slow or "normal" my petrol needle goes down faster then i would like it to! Is 150miles off a full tank normal in a 231 55plate Rx-8?? Im from london UK and its winter season if that makes any difference.

Thankss!!

Sounds about right for 100% city driving with periodic hard driving, plus winter blend gas and longer warmup times.

You could get 0 mpg if you were stuck in traffic. Pretty hard for us to determine what is normal unless it's purely highway.

+1. If you want to really measure your mileage health, do a 100% highway tank, avoiding traffic, power bursts, etc... I hear that is difficult in the UK.

Hi guys, thanks for your replys its helped put my mind to rest over this matter. Thinking about it one time i filled my tank up and hit the motorway for around 50-60miles and the tank only moved from (above) the full line to two notches beneath it. Which was impressive but then of course i went into city and just like before i managed to get a max of 150miles give or take.. Ahh well i guess its what you get with owning an amazing fire breathing car like our RX-8s lol

Mine is not a DD, so I tend not to notice it much, but when I do play in the city, I will burn through a quarter tank and I know I have driven maybe 50 miles. in stark contrast, when I visit my family which is about 130 miles one way, I can go down there and back on one tank, although I will need to fill up when I get back home. That's with the cruise set at 78 (speed limit is 75). It's a great car, one of the best I've owned.
