Yes they are. You can purchase one from the dealer or check the For Sale section. I know one active thread that has it for $150. I think it's a good investment, considering that ours is a 2004, no doubt the fix-a-flat goop we have in the trunk are beyond it's expiration date.

Addendum: RX-8 Spare Tire Kit.

Spare tire is an option.

Does anybody have a reason why the RX8 2004 MT6 drain the battery as fast as you can replace them? Is this as common of a problem as I've been reading about? Does replacing the OEM battery with an Optima Yellow or red top help cure the draining problem or just have more guts to get it started whenever it's parked for 2 or more days? This is driving me up a wall?
There seems to be a design flaw for sure, but Mazda won't fix it! Help! Anybody have a wiring drawing to steer me in the right direction? I've traced it down to a breaker in the hood box. BTN circuit. Not even sure what that goes to. Any HELP PLEASE?

No, the RX-8 doesn't drain the battery any more than any other car. Something is draining your battery, and it isn't by design. Something needs to be fixed.

I would just like to say thanks for the information. I accidentally flooded my rx8 (was tired and just wanted to pull it into the garage after trying and failing to replace speakers and only had it on for maybe 30 seconds) for the 3 time since I owned it and now this time the normal antiflooding procedure from mazda is not working... I think I will first get some new spark plugs, ignition coils, and spark plug cables as the ones in my car I think are still original and after about 220k I think they should be replaced. Then if the plugs are wet I will try the antiflooding procedure suggested by darkbrew to get the car started again.

Your ignition system will not be original after 220k. It would have been changed at least 5times

My 2004 mazda rx8 89k miles wouldn't start when worm at all had to wait like 15 min to restart after replacing wires plugs battery and coils I did lots of research online and came across a video of starting the rx8 with a good starter and a bad starter mine sounded like the bad one and with more research I found out I had the original starter N3H1 so I replaced the starter and no problems at all starting was worried I was going to have a compression problem

You still have compression problems, the starter just masked them temporarily.

Hey everyone i have a similar problem, my 2004 6speed rx8 was running fine for 35 mins and than i turn it off and after 15 mins pass i wanted to start again the engine but it didnt want to start anymore it would only rotate but no crank. Then after 15 mins of trying to get it to start my battery drained and i took it to autozone to get charged , after getting it charged i put it back on the car and try to get it to start once again and now the engine barely rotates , like if the battery dies right away... After trying for a while to get it to start i heard a pop/loud noise like a shot out of the muffler and i hope its nothing really bad and so i left it alone until the next day i try push start the car since its 6 speed rx8 and again that loud pop noise came out of the muffler. Please help!

Help me.

My 2003 rx8 cut out on me last night after driving it for a few hours. Pulled into a side road to spin around and it cut out and now no longer starts. I went to it tonight tried the deflooding thing, it started after a lot of attempts, I let it warm up find its idle, drove it 0.3 miles and it cut out again and now won't start. Struggled to start for a few days but always ran fine after letting it warm up. I've only owned the car for just over a week, never skipped a beat until now. Could it be could and plugs? I noticed some shavings in my coolant bottle as well. Oh it's a 2003, 231bhp, 79000 miles

Hi Anderson,

I am not too sure, It could be the fuel pump, or fuel itself.
Did you get the compression test done when you bought the car?
If you can provide more details pertaining to your car such as (maintenance related) that would be great help.

I'd also suggest, create your own thread for your issues, instead of reviving an old thread so that more people can chime in.

Help please

Sorry for hijacking, but can't make my own thread!

The other day my mate had to move my car and didn't let it warm up by the time he turned it off so the next day when I went to drive it, it wouldn't start. Not only that, but the engine wouldn't even crank, only made this really fast clicking sound. I thought it had been flooded so I hooked up another car to Jumpstart and tried to deflood the engine by doing the "hold the gas down and crank for 5-10 seconds and wait for the same amount of time and then do it again for another 10 times" I did this and the car would crank fine (although after five seconds of this it would start clicking/not cranking again) and then when I then attempted to start the car after this method it sounded like it was going to start but didn't. I gave up and came back the next day and tried turning it on, it wouldn't crank again only clicking (which made me think that it would only crank when the battery was connected to another cars via jumper cables) so I went and brought a new battery. I put the new battery in and went to try start the car again, good news is it's actually cranking, but will still not start.

The engine light is on (but not flashing) and the battery light is also on. It's a 2004 Mazda Rx8 automatic. Can anyone help?
