Mismatch tyres advice required

Hi i have just bought an RX8 and will do a proper intro when i get a chance to take some nice photos but for now I have a question about tyres.

I currently have brand new Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric 2s on the rear and nearly new Potenza RE050s on the front and Im wondering is this safe to ride with or could the mismatch get me into handling trouble? I have in the short time ive drove it noticed a bit of rear twitchyness even in dry/slightly wet conditions. By this i mean the rear feeling almost like its losing traction and wanting to swing left and right and i dont even have to be pushing it hard? The times its happened ive been on a straight in dry warm conditions. Once was a slight bend on the motorway @ 70mph. Put it this way my old banger 626 with budget worn tyres felt safer. Could this be the tyre mismatch or could i simply be adjusting to RWD? Both tyres are 225/45/18s.
Thanks for the help!

It's not a problem by itself, the twitchiness could be you getting used to RWD, or tire pressures too high. But eventually, figure out what tires you want all around.

The car responds pretty strongly to alignment settings. I'd get that checked out.

A little symmetrical toe-out in the rear can make it pretty twitchy over bumps but still track straight over smooth pavement.

As long as your tires have traction, you'll be fine. This isn't a Subaru. What you're describing sounds like an alignment issue, assuming your suspension is OEM.

Like they said, alignment first. They will also tell you if something else is wrong. I am a big fan of the alignment policies, where you get unlimited alignments, for several years, for about $250.
