Miata diff transplant?? o_0

Not too long ago I had upper diff bushings put in my rx8. The impossible to find bushings for the upper diff carrier mount which I found that powerflex caries. Anyways when I received them, the packaging said "Mazda mx-5 miata", so freaking out a little bit, that I bought the wrong ones, I found out the NC miata have the same suspension set-up and rear end assembly as the rx8.

So where this question generates from is that not too long ago I had the diff replaced but with a used one. It still drives well, but if I wanted replace it with a better one, would a used miata diff work fine? I would imagine they would be a little easier to find, at least one without the same abuse that a rx8 diff would have.

If they're the same and someone has tried this or if they're not the same, let me know, thanks for reading

It's not the same suspension setup but yes, some stuff is interchangeable.

The MX5 differential is smaller and not as strong. The PPF also attaches to the opposite side of it and the transmission than on the RX8. Even if you installed both the MX5 PPF is aluminum, not as strong, and the MX5 has a 17" shorter wheelbase so it's also nowhere near long enough

There are plenty of diff support bushing options for this chassis; OE, Delrin/composite, aluminum, urethane, etc.
