So like 9 years ago, there was a member who had created a mold for custom subwoofer boxes that fit perfectly into the trunk, one on either side, quite unobtrusive. They were pretty great. I think he sold them for around $100? I know it's a long shot but does this ring a bell with anybody? I couldn't find the original thread, searching. (My husband's silver 8 has them but the new black one needs some!)

I suspect they are long gone so other suggestions are fine too. (Bear in mind I know very little about car audio, my husband is the audiophile.) Basically the "new" 8 has the Bose speakers but nothing else, and typically we would put an amp and a couple of subwoofers in the trunk (er, bass speakers, I could be mangling the term!)

I believe you're referring to the 4080 boxes.
From what I can tell, they stopped producing the enclosures for our cars and all other models. Quick google search didn't even show their website.

Found an interesting thread with more info
Looks like Nick (the creator of the 4080 boxes) and his business partner parted ways some time back which is why 4080 enclosures ceased doing busines.

A post from a few years ago shows Nick stared a new company by the name of Boxology.
Looking at a other car forums to see if they're still around. Stay tuned...

searching the G37 and Lexus forums it looks like even the new Boxology company is no longer around. they stopped being forum vendors on those sites back in 2011 and I can't seem to locate their new website.

what exactly were you looking for?
to buy a set of those boxes?
I've had two of them in my RX8 since 2006 (?) but I remember them being much more than $100 at the time. Might be easier to just have a stereo shop build a custom box for the car at this point.

Yes, we bought a second 8 and we need some for it. The first 8 has them still. I could be misremembering the price, for sure- 9 years ago and all! Yeah if they were pretty pricey anyway we may just haul the car in somewhere and see what can be done in person.

yeah, I can't seem to find much more at this point. I honestly think they're gone.
I see the boxes pop up for sale here every now and then but it's kind of rare since it's been a few years since they were active on this site.
