Hello I'm having a problem with mazda i got my rx8 in September of this year.. I love the car.... When I bought the car I was told it had a new motor put in August and it was sitting around until I bought it. Three weeks after I bought the car the motor blew. Mazda of USA won't help at all what steps should I take?

So mazda told me that they will not give me any assistance because aftermarket exhaust parts are on the car. I have a lawyer and the magnuson-moss act of 1975 came up. The motor was just put in by mazda 2 months ago. Supposedly new that came out to be a reman motor from 2010. I took the car to ase certified rotary specialist then found that apex seals were old and the bearings and camshaft was destroyed in less than 400 miles
There's no such thing as an ASE certification for rotaries, nor is it covered in the ASE literature. The only way you get instruction in rotary engines is through Mazda or you are self-taught.

Your engine was almost certainly a reman. However, that doesn't change anything.
If there is no active warranty on the motor, then no, they have no legal motivation to give you one for free, and quite a bit of financial reason not to.

Even though they just put a reman engine, it doesn't mean its a good running engine. You should have a compression test done before you bought it, oh well, too late now. Sorry on what happened...
- You have a Reman engine warranty of 1 year / 12,000 miles? (20,000kms) so if the engine is from 2010 your hooped there
- Mazda WILL 100% warranty an engine within time/mile range and having a aftermarket exhaust - cat delete or just catback... its actually to there advantage
= you don't have warranty, and no chance of getting a motor replacement from Mazda. Do your research before purchasing and get a compression test.
For ShinkaEvo - clogged cat can cause drivability issues similar to ignition problems.

If the engine was replaced under the 8yr 100k, the 1yr 12k is entirely optional. If an engine that was replaced under the 8yr 100k fails outside of the 8yr 100k but within 1yr 12k, the individual district manager over that dealership has a yes/no final decision on whether or not to cover. This is the official statement from MNAO.
