Mazda OEM Premium 5w-20 Oil?

Mazda OEM Premium 5w-20 Oil?

It says exceeds performance of national leading brand standards...

Has anyone here actually tried it?

I know for the Synthetic its the go to brand cause it has an additive specific for SkyActive Engines where as other brands don't...but not sure about the regular oil.

SkyActiv engines? What does that have to do with rotaries?

Don't use any 5w-20. Use 5w-30 or higher. Since you're somewhere warm, you can use 10w-40 without concern (unless you take your '8 up to Big Bear).

Just using it as a reference cause people who owns Mazdas with SkyActive Engines buy Mazda Genuine Oil instead of the off the shelf brand like Castrol or Penzoil...so does that mean Mazda oil is better?

I was asking cause i know that BMW oil sucks...theres a video in YouTube where they boiled BMWs Oil the other was Penzoil and Castrol...and BMWs oil actually left residue compared to the other 2...

I have a CX-3 with 2.0L SkyActiv and I use Mobil 1 0w-20 in that.

My '8 with a Sohn adapter gets Shell Rotella T6 5w-40.

There is no reason to use it in an RX-8, or any other engine, for that matter. It surely performs no better than many of the national brands.

The shorthand version of what oil to use, assuming you are not under warranty, is:

1. If you have a catalytic converter, use Mobil 1 0W40 and change it every 5K miles
2. If you do not have a cat, save some money and use Shell Rotella T6 5W40 and change it every 5K miles
3. If you don't want to use either of those, use any other SN grade oil, in a weight of your choosing, and change it every 3K miles.

It really and truly does not need to be any more complicated than that.

BTW, my Mazda dealer buys bulk oil on price. You never know what will be in the drum from one oil change to the next.
