WV MAF gasket size

Working my way through the first 100 dollars- got the MAF off and sprayed clean. To me the gasket is distended and looks too small (diameter) for the channel, although it has no outward signs of stretch. It's as clear in the photo as I could get, the gap is about the width of a penny without any stretch.

So is this the wrong size, just stretched, or that's the way it normally fits, try not to pinch it getting it back in?
Thanks

Harbor Freight and other places sell Viton O ring assortments, I bought one and found a size that works perfect.

Looks stretched or maybe somebody tried to use non-OE and it could have been leaking causing an idle issue (spray carb cleaner on it with thd engine idling, if idle rpm increases it leaks). I'd recommend replacing it. MSRP is about $11. I'm sure there's a metric std O-ring out there that may work, but I wasted more time trying to find one than it was worth and finally just bought one from Mazda.

Edit: well I never went to HF, figures ...

None of the assortments I bought would seal properly, best to do the idle test just to be sure.

Crossed fingers

Sorta fixed. Autozone had a distributor o ring assortment. The ring I had was p,or ably the right thickness, just wrong diameter. The new ring is too thick, but stretched enough because it was smaller to allow the sensor to seat into the hole, and carb cleaner tested sealed. Seems to be idling at the normal 850, with an occasional wander.

Now what to replace the giant assed, dirty K&N filter with? Car has to be 85-90 decibels at 5k rpm. I assume the cat is missing or gutted, but it is also wheezing through the filter.
