QC Long time viewer, newly registered

Hello to everyone that will read this,

First and formost, I would like to thanks everyone that takes time to post their DIY's and all troubleshooting. I've been finding all the response to my needs on this site since I bought my 8 2 years ago. It helped me alot and I greatly appreciate it.

A little bit about me, I'm 31 from Montreal, QC always been passionate about car / engine mods since i've got my licence. I would like to point out english is my secondary language so I excuse my self in advance for my spelling.

I have a 2004 rx8 manual 6-speed and my current mods / tune up / bolt-ons : header, catless megan midpipe (will change / sell soon because the resonator sound is too raspy) and type sport side skirts. Entire fluids / oils, ignition, brakes change.

The reason why i registered is to find new/used/rare performance parts, rotary meet's and help finding answer to those in trouble with the best of my knowledge.

Unfortunatly, I can't post what i'm searching in the right thread because i'm a new user and it is fairly understandable to counter scams and others unwanted people.
If someone can help me find / respond, it would be appreciated.

- Since the Accessport is discontinued from mazdamaniac and cobb, what would be my alternative of finding a similar device that can tune / read my ECU ? I know racing beat will tune my factory ECU, but my 8 is my daily car so I can't let her sit. I would buy a used one if available and unmarried of course.

- Other near future parts i'm willing to buy is catback, sohn full kit, rb revi + ram or injen intake, MS / M1 front bumper, oil / brake line kit and other esthetics (rb grills, R3 style smoke tl,...)

See you all around and thanks for reading !

Welcome aboard!
Any plans for track time?

Don't buy the injen intake. Makes things worse.

As for tuning, lookup MazdaEdit. Someone also just posted this week a nee thing called VersaTuner. No idea if it's any good.

If you need a compression test, let me know, I have a homemade rotarg tester.

@gwilliams6 : Thanks for the tip, i'll make sure to rank up my posting when ever i can.

@Loki : Thanks for the welcome, i never been for a track time with this car but i'll look it up at least for once or twice this summer.

I'll take your advise for the injen intake, i'll look further when time comes of buy one.

I take a look on ''MazdaEdit'' and for the VersaTuner. I've been and call to many tuning shops with no luck (10+) for the 8, all I was hearing is ''do you have an aftermarket ecu because the factory one's can't be done''. The thing is if I find a tune program, the guy that will be playing with it must learn it and that takes time. I'll be ending paying 1000$+ for 1 flash...

I'll let you know if I need a compression test, did it last year at the dealer. By the way, i've received a recall for the airbags, just let you know it could apply for yours too.

If the car is stock there is very little point in tuning it. You could increase the OMP rate and lower the fan turn on temperature, but that's about it. You can DIY that with MazdaEdit easily. Beyond that, you need somebody who seriously knows these engines, and most shops don't (as is evident from their replies to you). And even then, on a stock car you're not going to get much performance changes. Mazda didn't leave a lot of power on the table with this one.

Try Derwin Tuning in Terrebonne, but not sure even they tune.
