keyless remote question

Ok guys, so I bought my 8 2 months ago and the dealer didnt get the remote when it was bought/traded in. I called the stealership and they want $300 for one programmed. My question is, if there is a universal remote I can use with this car. Unlocking the doors with the key is old. Please let me know guys, thanks!

I just went through this myself. If you are talking about the credit card style remote then yeah thats about right. I found this website where it's a little cheaper and all you have to pay is for the cutting of the key and programming. Mazda Rx8 Key fob remote replacement - Keyless Fob

But to answer your question there is nothing you can do besides use the OEM remotes. I tried my hardest to get around it and it did not work.

You are correct it's just the regular key and fob. I would recommend buying the keys and fobs online and call another dealership. I only paid to have 3 keys reprogrammed to my car.
