Keyless entry take a a while to kick in

Hi,

I have a stock keyless entry system and I have 2 keys for it, both do the exact same thing where I have to keep pressing the unlock button for ages until it kicks in then once it does the keys are fine and the car will respond first time to all the commands until the next morning where I have to go through it all again.

I thought it might have been the battery in the key but since it does it on both keys the exact same and once the car responds once it works I think it might be something to do with the cars inbuilt receiver any help???? Thanks

The battery in both my keys went bad within days of each other. I too thought it was pretty coincidental. The batteries are cheap though. Worth a shot.

Mine did the same thing. They would only work if I was really close to the car and I still had to push the button a lot of times before it caught the signal.

There's a little rubber cover; pull that and your battery is behind it.

I'm having issue with my key too--frustrating.

the keyless entry on the RX-8 is garbage! Sometimes i feel like i might snap that little remote in half trying to get it to work, I have to be somewhat close for it to work and press it numerous times for it to work. Also dont put it next to ur Iphone, it makes the keyless entry stop working altogether

For awhile, I was unable to unlock/lock/open trunk with the keyless entry fob unless I was within 2 yards of the car. I took it to batteries plus and replaced the battery, that solved it.

Also, as mentioned above, the keyless entry fob does not work when it is placed right next to your cell phone. Separating your key from your phone and it will work normal again.
