Any aftermarket body kit requires a lot of work to make fit securely and look good. Then needs paint.

I have the same questions. I want to buy a urethane body kit but, everyone is telling me not to. Same thing, they don't fit well. Looking for a good fitting brand.

Id advise against it. None I have seen fit perfectly and require custom fitment. I bought both mine from Duraflex. Was easier to just fiberglass and paint my damaged stock bumpers. You can get it to work but it costs a lot of money and time. Plus, I like the stock look better and I’m glad I never used them. Here's a video from Japanda Tuning who installed a front body kit on his RX8. Just watch the video to get an understanding of the kind of pain in the *** that awaits you.

Info for all.... I spoke with Extreme Dimensions particularity about the material and fit of their covers. The Duraflex material is strong and will flex as compared to any fiberglass cover. He said here is where ED get a bad rap. The cover needs to have attachment points fiberglass attached properly at all the OEM attachment points. Most shops don't/cant do that. I have a friend good at glass work that will attach all the needed attachment points to hold the covers on correctly. Because I think people order the cover and slap it on without the proper prep and security they fit bad and fall off easily. If you have a shop that can do that, it is time consuming and cost prohibited compared to an OEM cover. I know what I am getting myself into and am going to give it a shot. I will post my findings with pics for all to see. Going with the ED Mazda RX-8 Duraflex X-Sport Body Kit - 4 Piece. Putting it on my 2005 with new engine installed, sanded and ready for paint. Just need new covers. Wish me luck.

As long as you know what you are getting yourself into then go for it. People buy these thinking they can handle it and give up. People like me in fact that have their duraflex kit sitting in a warehouse and not on the car...

Maybe just work with stock body and add on to it or leave it be...

I personally rather dump money into performance vs looks but that’s why the car community is so diverse

Duraflex Bumper Cover install Followup

I Bought the Duraflex X-Sport Front bumper cover from Extreme Dimensions. It came black, not sure if it needed to be primed. I don’t think so. I gave it to my body shop and they painted it. They followed my direction in, just painting it. I am happy with the finish but there is a slight waviness to it that can be seen On an angle. It’s ok, it’s not a show car, just needed a front cover. I should have spent the extra money, I was already over my budget and should of had it primed with a heavy primer and sanded down to a perfect flat finish. My fault. I can still have that done. It looks really good anyway, might skip it. So, if you buy one, have that done. The cover fit very close. These duraflex covers get a bad wrap because people think it’s an OEM fit and when it does not line up perfect they get upset. I pre-fit the cover and used a dremel tool with a grinder bit to grind away extra material around the side lights, where they slide in and I had to cut back and grind the inside of the cover where the cover came in to close to the front solid bumper support. The air intake area. After that, bingo! Very good fit. Not quit as tight around the headlights as Perfect, but dam close. I’m sure a pro shop would have it perfect. I am very happy with my job considering I have limited body work experience. I think just about anyone could take their time and fit, grind, fit, grind, ect... took me a few hours so be patient. Also, none of the hole are drilled for the button style attachment. I bought the fasteners online cheep. Marked and drilled. Easy. You MUST have a undercover which are missing on many RX8s. Besides the fact it really funnels air through properly to maintain optimal cooling, it gives the entire bottom of the bumper cover support.
would I buy it again? Material will flex a little, but not like an OEM plastic. Good luck if you go that route. I will try to load up some pics. Remember. I’m just a beginner at body work. I had the whole car painted too.

I found a company that had a tsunami urethane body kit left and it turned out perfect I installed it in 2 hours I used the wrong primer on the driver door that's why its darker and a pressure sprayer instead of gravity fed on the door metalic paint and pressure sprayers dont mix btw

yours turned out really nice as well great job
