Hey guys.

New to this forum but i just got an RX-8 (2003 type S with 40,000km's), and just had a few quick questions!

Firstly, i hear you can change the interior lighting colours on the speedo/rev counter to a blue/red? I cant figure out how to do it haha.

Second, what do the buttons and funny little **** thing behind the shifter (Infront of the cupholder/storage space) mean? I can provide photo's but these buttons are all in Japanese so I have no idea what they do.

Third, are there any mods you guys would reccomend for new owners? I know how to take care of my RX-8 (oil checks every 2 fills, oil replacing, warming up, cooling down, red lining every few days etc). But I just mean any specific mods to make my ride just that little bit better? Am already getting a headunit converter to change the stock headunit to support my custom "normal" one.

I assume the controls you mention are for the navigation system.
As for mods, the BHR ignition is a good one, since the OEM coils should be replaced every 30k miles, and it eliminates that.

I don't know how it is on non-US models, but the ones here don't really have much of an instrument light color change. Basic lighting is red, with an eerie blue background. If you turn the brightness all the way up the instrument lights become white.
