Just got this

So i took a chance and bought this rx8 for 1000 bucks, knowing it had a hot start issue. The interior is extremely clean. The rest of the car is fixable. I put coils plugs and wires in it, seems be be starting alot better hot. Took it to mazda for inspection they said it needs the usual stuff rear tires, catalytic converter i figure the one thats in there is gutted. Also needs rear sway bar bushings, brakes and rotors all 4 wheels and a vid solenoid. Whats vid? Valve on intake?

Welcome!

Have you read through the New Owner thread?

Have you got a rotary-specific compression test yet?

As for the cat, if you can handle the smell and don't have to worry about the inspection, run the decat. If you have an inspection to worry about, look to see if there are second-hand cats around. New OEM cats are really not worth it, since you can get an HJS Tuning cat + BHR mid-pipe combo for about the same money.

VDI stands for variable dynamic intake. It's a little valve in the intake path that opens up at higher RPM to give the car more power. The solenoid is accessible once you remove the upper intake manifold, I believe.
