Hey guys I'm new to this whole thing but I just bought a Mazda rx8 from my neighbor and I'm struggling on how to get it rollin. Idk what I'm doing wrong that I keep stalling, can anyone give me any tips or pointers on how to do it the right way ?

Give us some more specifics on what work has been done to the car, does it start, maintenance history, did you get rotary compression testing numbers on the engine, etc.

As far as maintenance goes everything is good bc the guy replaced everything before he sold me the car, my own problem I guess is fully learning stick with an RX-8

If I read this right, you're having trouble with the manual trans?

The clutch and gas action on these cars takes some getting used to, but it's not that different. Release the clutch gently, keep revs around 1200 with the gas pedal. When you get used to it you can do it at lower rpm.

Btw is Wuaker state 5w-20 good oil for the rx-8!some have told me it is and some have told me is isn't.

Any 5W20 with an SN rating is good enough so long as you change it often and change your oil filter. I personally use WalMart SuperTech 5W20 - SN and change my oil between 1000-2000 miles and only use the N3R1 filter made for the Series 2. Oil is cheap vs. an engine replacement and I knew this going into the purchase of my 2010 GT. I do quick oil changes at home every ~ 1000-1000 miles and a filter every 3000 miles. They are even faster now with my Dallas-modified Fumoto F106 oil valve.

I also have been using blackstone labs to test my 5W20 from Wally World. They cannot tell a difference. I've also taken it to work to run surface friction and surface tension tests and I cannot tell a difference vs. Castrol GTX or Pennzoil (regular). I use conventional (non-synthetic).

Well today I purchased 5 QT's of Quaker State oil with an STP oil filter. The buyer made it seem as if it wasn't a good choice but recently in the club I saw that another guy asked the same question about his RX-8 and they said it was okay so I'm like really confused on what I should do as far as my situation goes with the oil. My job isn't really giving me good hrs at the moment so I don't have the money to just blow freely when I make a mistake

Changing the oil and using a filter sized for the car is fine. The Series @ (2009-11) needs a Mazda OEM filter. Change your oil often (about 3000 miles) and make sure you fill the oil using a longer 5-9" funnel on the Series 1 (2004-8) to ensure you don't fill those horizontal tubes in the oil filler with oil or you'll have a mess in the air intake.

If the coils plugs and wires haven't been replaced in 30K mes I would change those. Get a.set from Mazmart. Change coolant as well with whatever grade the manual calls for.

Alright man, how did you get the car going when in first gear ?

easy on letting out the clutch while adding a fair amount of gas - rev at ~ 15-20K rpms. It takes getting used to b/c the car doesn't have the torque a Mustang GT has. But the clutch is very easy compared to a Mustang or an M3.

Yeah that's where I was messing up at I wasn't giving it enough RPM's I would ease off the clutch and then try and give it gas

Now just yesterday I charged the battery for my car and they said it was a good battery, I put it back in and the car started fine and now that I'm trying to start it, it won't turn over...

Define turn over, the started doesn't spin or the engine spins but won't fire up?
If it spins but won't fire it could be flooded from the previous time you turned it on and shut it off right away, which also points to weak ignition coils and/or old spark plugs.
If it doesn't spin at all, check the battery connections, perhaps they're loose from when you removed the battery.

The car can't be flooded bc I haven't gone anywhere bc the battery was charging. Can anyone give any input on what the problem could be ?

To repeat, can you clarify the problem

Flooding occurs when you start the car and shut it off right away, which I read as a possible scenario when you say.. "I put it back in and the car started fine and now that I'm trying to start it, it won't turn over..."

No sir like yesterday when I started the car I let it warm up for a while to make sure everything was working fine and then I cut it off. But this morning I got up and was about to drive the car but it would start. It would click but it wouldn't turn all the way over me start
