I've always said I wouldn't buy a rotary!

Here I am, the new owner of a RX-8, more precisely the last of its generation made in 2008. In terms of reliability there's always better but when you've already owned almost all kinds of engine type (V-8, V-6, I-6, I-4, NA, Turbo, etc.) available, the rotary becomes a logical decision (Still not sure but it was cheap..lol).

The car is in great shape with all features functioning as it should with the exception of a few things but hey, the car has 92000km, you need to give it a break. The SSV was annoyingly noisy and needed to be replaced immediately before I simply go crazy. Of course, the thermostat housing gasket was falling apart and also needed to be replaced. I also spent a lot of time studying the intake plenum, that thing worth an award on its own (More gasket to replace...Haha!).

All recalls have been done at the dealership. The engine starts all the time (Cold, Med, High, Broil), no hesitation or anything weird coming out of the engine bay other than the jumping SSV...Arrgg!. Coils are Hitachi so definitely a keeper.

I will keep you updated on the latest maintenance...No CEL yet...fingers crossed!

My daily driver is a 2002 Honda StepWGN (JDM) so this is a fun toy.

Here's a few pictures in her natural position...

And then the nasty SSV...

That damn thing didn't want to stay close....

Stay tuned!
