Iv done the basic research on the care and maintenance for a rx8 and im looking into buying but had a few questions. I looked at the thread for new and potential owners and was wondering if im looking to buy something with 90,000 miles is it completely necessary that i replace every thing on the "What to address first list"? I understand that they do need to be kept up but it seems kind of excessive. I'm looking to buy from a individual seller where could i get a compression test done? or would i have to do it myself? Any help would be appreciated thanks

 

For a comp test, you're looking for a mazda dealership or a rotary-focused shop. Nobody else really has the tools to do it correctly (but they will try!!)

Personally, I'd call ignition coils, spark plugs and wires and engine and trans fluids 'necessary', unless they're verified new or recent at time of purchase.

Compression test first. Then, for a series I would do the stuff in the Congrats you got an 8 thread, then look at coils, plugs, wires in that order.

You now just took care of 90% or more of the issues. I have 130,000 miles on mine.
