Unhappy I am at a loss! :( and desperate...please help!! Please!!

Sorry for being so dramatic, but I am seriously desperate....
I have a 2004 AT RX8 with 92K miles. The car has new coils, wires, plugs, cat converter. Compression was tested and it came out good. The car starts and runs great for the first 20 mins, but after that, when I come to a stop, I can floor the gas and the car barely moves...after literally flooring (and holding down) the accelerator the car then accelerates fine. I have also noticed that on the highway, if I'm on AT, it seems like I loose speed, so I accelerate and the gear shifts down..but I have to do this often. I often have to just go with Manual Stick and literally drive on 3rd gear on the highway. Like I said, it only does this after 20 mins of driving. Another thing, I also recently put in a new transmission, since the torque converter went out, but this issue was happening even before that. Could it be something with the fuel? I really don't know what else to do? What about decarbonizing the engine? Could it be that? HELP PLEASE!!!: wallbash:

you wouldn't by chance have those compression numbers would you? I have seen some reports of dealers saying that the compression was "good" when it was right on the cusp of death.

Also, any codes?

no, I don't have any numbers, I can tell you that in my desperation, I actually paid TWICE to have the compression checked before the warranty expired...both times they told me that compression was good. Do you think it might be the engine?..also no CELs...I read on one of the loss of power threads that it might be the fuel pump...could it be that? I just don't see how..

it could most certainly be the fuel pump. Especially with that many miles on it if it is the original.

so those could be symptoms of the fuel pump, you think? Not sure if it has the original since I purchased car with 70K miles. I'm going to try and buy this weekend and replace...hope that helps. thanks

someone will have to chime in, but it might be best to test out the pump first before buying a new one.

It`s teh interwebz brah
no reason to post if you arent gonna be helpful right?
And Im being hypocritical as well too lol

Only way I can see a problem is it`s from your cat even though you replaced it... If theres a serious power issue, wouldnt it be heat related? Since it happens after 20 mins, not when you started and not at operating temperature that itdoes occur right away.

Did you have the converter replaced as well ? Does the slow response happen with a full tank of gas ? I know you stated you have a near new cat, but, have you checked that it isn't fried ?

This thread is showing up in the new member area... I'm guessing you moved it? When did the new policy take effect? Guessing today.

wow, blown engine? really? just from being from Texas and AT? I went ahead and got desperate and replaced the whole fuel pump assembly praying that would fix the problem, but no luck. So, my last step is to take to dealer on Monday and have car re-checked again and see if they can figure out....I really do hope is not the engine anyway, thank you for the serious responses and I apologize if I posted or started a new thread when/where I wasn't supposed to.

no worries on the thread starting. thats just me thinking "out loud" on particular issues of changing some forum stuff. in anything your post helped figure things out.

fyi- The original AT engine failure issue was first brought to our attention by the large number of 2004 ATs having engines replaced at one particular dealer in Waco.

I know that on the rx7s the coolant temp sensor exhibited very similar symptoms. Does it run well until it warms up?

nobody can diagnose your vehicle over the internet save for the lucky guess because that's all anybody can do here. That's why I was asking where in TX are you located. Nobody can help you if you can't answer a basic question.
