Hi There

Hi Folks,

Just a quick introduction.

Im from Sydney Australia and just purchased my first RX8 2 weeks ago.

I have had many rotaries over the years, I have an FD RX7 and I purchased this RX8 as a street/track day car.

It has,
dna motorsports procharger supercharger kit,
mild port engine, ( low comp on front rotor, will need a rebuild soon )
Re amemiya stainless extractors and cat pipe to hks stainless rear mufflers,
Tein coilovers,
Mazdaspeed bodykit, autoexe front bar etc.

Its a fun car to drive and will make a great track day car.
Im currently fixing a few things on it.

I hope to learn a lot from the folks here and help out where I can.

Thanks.

Hi There

Sounds like you have a good idea for what you want from your car! Have any pics?
Wouldn't mind seeing the FD, either

Yea I like the supercharger because it gives it a nice boost of power from down low all the way through the rev range and its nice and linear, I think it will be great for track days, hopefully not too many surprises mid way through a corner.

Ill take some pics tomorrow and upload them of both cars.

Thanks guys.

I love the FD, handles awesome, like a real race car, super low center of gravity, nice power and really reliable but damn the thing is costly for parts and insurance.

The thing I love about the RX8 is that the parts are really cheap and available anywhere, cheap for insurance, less than half the cost of the FD and thats with unlimited kilometers (the FD is on recreational insurance, 8000 kilometers per year only) and its comfortable inside.

Im 6ft 2in and 115 kgs and its a feat to get in and out of the FD, but the RX8 has more than enough room for me.

The RX8 is perfect for what I want from it, comfortable daily driver and will be an affordable, fun track day car.

The only thing Im trying to get used to with the RX8 is every time I go for a drive a different light comes up on the dash, either the traction control, handbrake or airbag or all 3 at a time, I gotta try and figure out where the bad connection is.

Oh ok, I also noticed that under braking the rear speakers go much quieter and then when I accelerate they come back on but the front then go mono etc.

Ill stick a multi meter on it tomorrow and test to see what volts I have at the battery while running etc.

Thanks for that.

it the sound issue a issue of braking or speed? try just letting it slow down without brakes and see if it drops.

Im not really sure, Ill have to take the car for a drive and see, it seems to happen under braking, the stronger I am on the brakes the quicker it happens and the more severe the volume drop etc.

It's probably a stupid question but did you check the radio settings. If you have it faded to the back speakers and the speed compensation turned on it could make a significant differance.

The car has a double din sony cd player in it.
Sorry but what is speed compensation ?
Is it a feature the car has ?

This is the latest model car that Ive owned, if the car has a feature like that its possible but I dont know.

Just found some posts on it.
Wow I didnt know the car had this feature (its a bose 9 speaker with a sony head unit).
It looks like maybe the relay in the door speaker amp has died,

Well the aftermarket head unit will change things, but stock has a feature that it gets louder (to some extent)as you drive faster. And vice versa.

Do you know hot to a Google search of a website directly?
Put this in google.

When I accelerate it does get louder and when I brake the sound shifts to the front speakers and becomes muffled.
I do run about + 2 on the fader to the rear.

Regarding the search, I will have to do what you recommended there because the sites search function doesnt really work to0 great when Im looking for stuff.

Thanks Again for that,
You really helped me out,
Much Appreciated.
