Technically yes, $450 US plus Shipping and Duties my final cost was $700.

I still have BHR Ignition for sale that's also 6 months old.

I don't mean to jack thread or anything but I really need help and you guys seem like you would be one of the best people to ask about a rx8/rotary engine car.

a 2004 rx8 6speed is doing 70 km on a full tank which is like 50miles on a full tank.

Something is seriously wrong with that can anyone tell me what are causes that might be doing this?

I assumed a leak but there is no leak. revs are normally around 3-4k.

Anything helps at this point just bought the car a month or so ago and was apparently in storage for a couple of years possibly according to the guy who sold it.

The exhaust doesn't sound stock but looks like the mufflers are stock so I am not sure if there something wrong with the exhaust as well. TBH I don't know what a rotary engine sounds like at idle so it hard to say if that's the normal noise.

that should have run a red flag to you immediately - the way I see it is that no one would just accumulate 3+ grand of depreciation on this car in 2 years willingly knowing that only a few hundred in repairs would be needed to liquidate the car.
unless you bought it real cheap

how many km?
any trouble starting hot or cold? how fast does it start?
check engine light?

It has 140k KM and no problem starting in hot or cold, starts up fast. No CEL and there isn't any other lights on either that would indicate a problem.

ever get any foul smells in the car or an unsteady idle?

when I was troubleshooting my gas mileage problems I found that I had multiple faults.

I knew that the coils were overdue @ 50k km because I saw some stored misfires in the OBDII scanner. I've heard that by redlining the car you have a higher chance of seeing the CEL flash. Usually bad coils will kill your cat because the unspent fuel and oil cook it. a clogged cat usually exhibits other problems though such as hesitation at higher rpm. The car shouldn't feel like the brakes are applied if you let off the gas around 5.5k rpm. CAT problems usually present with some foul smells in the vehicle.

With that being said eliminate the ignition and cat as component failures before you continue troubleshooting.

could also be brake dragging and alignment - let your hands off the wheel at a high speed safely see what happens

the sticky in this board
https://www.rx8club.com/new-member-f...causes-249529/

highway gas mileage less than 17mpg

Ignition failure
e-shaft sensor fouled
engine compression loss
vacuum leak
front O2 sensor failure
MAF fouled
dragging brakes
old transmission oil
old diff oil
failing diff
carbon choked engine

Is 14 mpg also considered bad gas mileage?

Where about in Scarborough are you?
+1 on everything Kim suggested

Also, take apart your intake box. inspect it thoroughly, if your filter is saocked in oil, replace the filter, clean the intake box and acordian tubes, and throttle body of any oil thats in there.

Yes, oil in there is normal, you can prevent it by installing a catch can.

Also, did you get a compression test done on the car? if not you might wana get it first thing
Mazda dealer may charge you 100-200 for it Mazmark auto at eglinton n warden charges $80

I have called every Mazda dealership in the GTA - Prima Mazda in Woodbridge is the only place that will charge $109 otherwise you can expect to pay $218+ anywhere else. I think Scarb Mazda told me it was a comprehensive 3 hour test. what a bunch of ****.
