Here's a pic of my "new" RX-8

It's an 05 model with 83K miles. I have to get the window tint redone as I'm fairly certain it will not pass inspection in my state. 35% is the darkest allowed on a passenger car. Anyway, I picked it up for $5K.

Have you had a rotary compression test done yet?

No compression test yet. That's on the way but I first have to get it street legal.

Why anyone would want to darken the interior of a car that already has smallish windows and a dark interior is beyond me. Kinda the opposite impulse of what makes people want a convertible. Well, to each his own, I guess.

I had the tint stripped and retinted with 40% tint. That makes it slightly lighter than the legal limit in my state which is 35%. It passed inspection no problems.

Looks like the car is in pretty good condition. US$5k is a pretty good deal if the engine is good.

6-speed or auto?

Getting the compression test done is a priority. It will help you know how healthy your engine is.

And yes, a lot of the threads aimed at noobs here are very helpful. Go to rx8help.com for some helpful tips.

And what kind of privacy anyways? You can't really do that in the back seats of an RX-8 because of the middle console... Maybe someone carries their illegal drugs in the car or something.

While I don't have inspections at where I live, I learned from some people in the States that the inspections used to be pretty loose, as in you can pass an inspection with an 8000K plug-and-play HID in a car not designed for it. Now there are tons of people who had to remove their tints and catbacks because they tightened up the inspections now. I guess that will depend on where you live and how lazy the inspectors are.

tint looks good, keeps sun off your interior, i dont like people seeing me while i drive, dont like thieves seeing whats in your car while its parked, tint holds glass together if you get in an accident and you can have sex in an 8
