So tonight I was driving down the road, and when my car went to go shift into 3rd gear, the exhaust popped and stayed in second gear and wouldn't accelerate into 3rd gear or go any faster at that point.

I pulled over to the side of the road and the car shut down automatically on its own.

Now the car wont start. I got it towed to my mechanic but i wont find out whats wrong for a few days so what do you guys think?

Whats wrong with it?
How much will this repair be?
How long will this repair take?

A little info on my car

- It has aftermarket borla exhaust
- Its automatic
- Just got an oil change 2 days ago
- 93k miles

How long have you had the car for?
Did you get the compression test done prior to purchase? if yes, what were the scores?
Have you replaced the coils, plugs and wires? or know when were they changed last?
Have you taken a look at your CAT?
How does your behave on Cold start vs Hot start?

 

Will it turn over at all? Does the starter just click or actually turn the engine?
Mine did just about the same thing when my engine locked up. Was just driving down the road and all of a sudden it died and coasted to a stop. Starter would just click and not turn over at all. Mine only had 2k more miles then yours.
