HELP - Possible engine rebuild?

Dear all,

My name is Paul and I own a 2007 Mazda RX8 pro drive limited edition.

The car has an overheating problem and I've only owned it for about 5 months. Mechanics say that the engine needs rebuilding.

Apart from that the car is is mint condition. I live in jersey and happy to sell for £1500 if anyone is interested in rebuilding the engine themselves. I don't have the time due to work commitments so happy to listen to offers or help.

Thanks,

Paul (the gutted owner of a beautiful but broken car).

Do you trust your mechanic? How did they come up with that diagnosis?

They are known as the Mazda specialist on the island. Due to jersey's roads, overheating of any car is seen as a relatively common problem. Highest speed limit is 40mph. I trust them, just need to either fix it for less than £2000 or sell it.

Well it sounds like you have made up your mind and trust your mechanics diagnosis so what kind of help are you looking for here?

Well they are going to charge nearly £4,000 to replace the engine, so I thought someone might want to buy it as a project, or that there may be a mechanic who will see this thread who will offer to fix it for less or provide some advice on how to source parts etc.
I've explored a few different avenues, so just trying this one as well.

Well posting on an international forum in a general area is not really the best way to get local help. I suggest you join the UK rx8club site or post in the regional section.

Yeah, this is basically a last resort, I've got nothing to lose.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will post on UK rx8 club forum as well.
