Help?

So I bought this rx8 from a guy and I have replaced Fuses, Engine, Transmission and Power steering rack but the power steering still isn't working?
I've cleaned wires and have done everything I can think of other than replacing the computer for it.
I'm out of ideas what it could be.

hey Joe, welcome.
wait. you replaced the engine and transmission already?

for a lot of owners (myself included) the culprit was the power steering electrical harness. Cleaning it solves the problem for some but many just replace it

While rare, there have been cases where replacing the power steering module (what you call the ECU) was the fix. Someone attempted to repair the module, but I can't find the thread now. Good news is doesn't appear to need any dealer work to code to the car, which means you can get a used one. It's a bit annoying to get to under the ECU, but not the end of the world.

I had off an on issues for a while.

Turned out to be a bad ground.

Check then recheck before you replace.

The rear wheel speed sensors have something to do with the steering I think. I had a problem where my steering and my speedo would cut in and out at the same time. Turned out one of my sensors were bad on the rear drivers tire. Fixed both issues.

Rx8 Power Steering still won't work

So I've tried everything I can think of but there is one thing I'm still wondering, So the positive battery terminal cable had a cut in it a pretty big one. I fixed it by sottering it together and car runs but just wondering would that cause the power steering to not work still?

Can you scan for codes that trigger the power steering light? it could be something silly like the steering wheel angle sensor.

I have scanned for codes but the only code that won't show up is the power steering one. Its almost like the power steering isn't on.

Recheck power and grounds. Open circuit voltage tests will not show high resistance faults. A corroded cable or loose ground will test ok but will sap voltage when an electrical load is present. If the module is only getting 9v, it will not power on. If you can, a voltage drop test will show what power is actually being supplied to the module.
