Hello new from TN

Hello,New guy with a 2004 RX8,with 72,000 Im having trouble with starting and stalling when the engine is warm.
Maintenance i have performed is new NGK spark plugs wires, every 30,000,Coils started going bad at 60+ thousand i replaced with cheap ebay coils worked for 5,000 miles, then i ordered some from mazmart the updated version.I am still having the problem.
The only cel i had about 10,000 miles ago was a oxygen sensor for bank 1.any ideas before i take it to the dealership?

hot starts can be a sign of low compression. what starter do you have, still have a cat, was fuel pump ever replaced?

60k+ on original coils is no good.
cheap ebay coils is no good.

Read those threads to understand the potential harm you may be causing to your engine

No i didnt even know about RX8 problems until i bought it.lol So your thinking low compression?

200.mph 02-11-2016 01:31 PM

what soldier said is good advice but you probably want to get it tested

Yeah thankyou for the info,It has a new battery,The symptom matches the low compression,If i turn it off then go do something comeback start it up it wont want to start,The idle dips and drops. So yeah...

Yupp had it tested last week,It has low compression.I have never killed a car at 72k. they want 7k to put in a new motor. I maintained that car oil changes every 3,000 for the first 50k then moved to every 4k because i was driving highway.
I did the rest of the maintenance besides the ignition coils. I dont think ignition coils would of kept it from dying,i have never heard of a car going bad from not having a ignition coil changed.

You should have read the issues inherent with the rx8 prior to purchase and reserched on why bad coils can lead to early damage

Yeah i contacted him hes got 3-4 cars ahead of me and doesn't have the slot open to take the motor out and put it back in the car.

Im going to college and trying to figure out the best way to move with this,To either sell it or rebuild it,How long do rebuilds usually last if you take really good care of them?
