Hello amazing people

I need help From all you fine people. I just changed my O2 sensor on my RX8 but it didn’t fix the code that it was throwing me. Something about system being too rich. I’ll post the code number whenever I get home… So what I did is take out all the plastic manifold to get to the O2 sensor harness connector and it looked like it was burnt.

You need to look at the live data or freeze frame data to determine if an oxygen sensor is failing. Remember there is an air fuel ratio sensor and there is an oxygen sensor. They look the same but the a/f sensor is before the cat and the oxygen sensor is after or in the RX-8's case, its threaded into it. You will also need to inspect the wiring for damage. The engine running rich is not always caused by a faulty oxygen sensor. I would clear the code and drive it and watch the live data. If you don't have a scanner that does live data you will want to find someone that does or take it to a reputable shop that can assist you in watching the live data. Also, be sure to post the code that popped up.
