Hello all, new owner here.

Hi, just thought I would introduce myself. I'm Mat (as my user name might suggest!) and I live in Lincolnshire. This is my first Japanese car so for it to be an RX-8 feels very special to me. I've always had hot hatches and sports saloons that were FWD so to go to RWD seems great and long overdue. Really enjoying my time with it so far though I must admit I am missing low down big figure torque.

I picked the car up last week, it's a 2003 231 model and has 1 former owner from new who has pampered it. Full dealer service history, stacks of bills, low miles and in immaculate condition. All factory recalls were done and it's had 3 coil pack changes and regular plugs and oil changes. All in all I'm very happy with it and I feel I got a real bargain. I hope to gain some knowledge from this site and maybe even become of use!

Welcome, Mat. It's definitely a fun car. The missing low end torque is made up for by the high rpm. Just think "four wheel sport bike" and keep the revs up. You won't miss torque any more than you miss pistons.

Oh I will always miss near instantanious grunt, how can you not?! But I will learn to adapt a different driving style! But to be fair, if I wanted a fast car I would have got another hot hatch or a Nissan 350Z but I've always liked the RX-8's and felt I must scratch an itch!

Welcome to the community Mat. Front muds without the rear areo? Weird. Good looking car
nonetheless.

It has the rear mud guard/spats. Just maybe not visible at that angle. Yes, all stuff like compression test done regularly, last was high 7's all around.

I can see the muds, was talking about the aero. Looks good without it though.

He is talking about the rear side skirt/mud flap which does not seem to be part of your package, nor the rear spoiler. Nice car anyway?

I didn't want one with those half size side skirts or the rear spoiler. The only thing I may consider is the front spoiler. So far, I've not seen another one (UK anyway) with just the mudguards and no skirts but with the silver side strakes, rear fog lamp surround and front 'V'.
