Hello

Hi everyone I’m doing minor performance modifications, customising the intake using an IDA throttle kit and want to know if it’s beneficial at all to leave it with 4 ports or to drill out the other 2 in the manifold to use all 6? It’s the 6 port engine but wondering if higher air speed would be better with that intake kit.
The engine will be controlled by an Haltech ECU.

I'm confused by your question. If you have a 6 port engine all 6 ports are open, 4 only has 4 ports. nothing really to drill out.

you'll also lose all the down low power that mazda was able to create with the oem intake set up

Does this eliminate the APV and SSV?
This is a terrible idea. Those valves exist so the car can idle and be driveable when not full throttle. If you're not building a dragster, don't do this. If you still choose to go ahead, open the 6th port. With 4 open you will have an undriveable car with lower peak power. With 6 you can at least make stock power.

Sorry if this sounds harsh, but this is far from a minor mod.

How is it even supposed to bolt up to the 6 port upper intake manifold?

I’m using a different upper intake manifold.
I’ll post a photo on Monday, I’m also changing from DBW throttle body to cable.
the engine will be controlled by a Haltech ECU so I can adjust all parameters to make the car drivable also at low Rpm

The intake is in position with the throttle body, i need to change the injectors o’ring to fit the fuel rail and finish off the fuel line. I had to make a adapter at 38° To fit the throttle body away from the break booster and firewall.
