Headlights do not match

Sounds funny. I know. I am second owner and have never had working lo beams. Me being me I have just said screw it and ran with hi beams. About a month ago they started to sort of flicker. Got worse until a couple days ago they have failed. Checked the fuses and all good. Gonna check relay in a minute but it was damaged (Cracked plastic revealing innards) when I bought it and replaced it even tho it didn’t fail. But I’ll check before going to get new bulbs. Which looks like it’s going to be a headache.

now into the fun part. After removing both headlights to fabricate a oil cooler bracket. Previous owner crashed. I became confused that the wiring was a little funky. something was up I did a little comparison and realized both heads lights are different. One has hid control and the other does not.
is this having any effect on the electrical system? Anytime I pull a fuse there always good but they always have a color to the prongs as if they are getting to hot, which would be my uneducated guess. Im guessing someone is gonna ask which headlight is on not crashed side as that would be my original. I can’t remember but I’m about to head out to check.

after some good reads I’m thinking and please tell me I’m wrong. Is this headlight thing completely screwing my electrical system?

Don't take this to the bank or anything, but I'm pretty sure the HID and standard headlights require different voltages. Whichever one worked is probably what the car originally had, and what you should hunt down. Things went south due to mismatched voltage demands.

they’ve both always worked hi and low. But I hear what you’re putting down. Working on it now

You probably want to figure out what trim of RX8 you have, if it came with HIDs originally and put everything back to that. Most of them except very base models came with HIDs, components should be plentiful at junkyards/ebay/etc

Original to my knowledge

I’m sure you already put together that this is the junkyard replacement lol.

Looked it up and when I replaced clutch noticed carbon fiber drive shaft. Manual transmission no sunroof.

what info confirms this? Vin?
Auto or manual?
Sunroof or no?
Leather seats or cloth?

I believe if you have sunroof or leather, you should have HIDs. If you have neither, especially if it's an auto and you're in the US, then no.

it’s sport. Confirmation for me is I replaced clutch awhile back and was amazed by the carbon fiber drive shaft. Also manual. No sunroof. Cloth seats. No traction control.
