headlight help

I have a 2004 rx8 and when I bought it, the right headlight didnt work and I tried to make the dealer replace it but he says hes not because it is to expensive so he would try to fix but he failed. When I took it apart with my cousin he said that it looks like they tried to convert to hid. He also said they removed the ballast from it. And the problem is just the low beam but everything else on it works. The dealer tried to put an adapter but u could barely see the light and then it just stoped working. I tried to use the fog light cables but again u could barely see it then it stoped workn. To me the other light looks hid but orielys auto parts says it looks normal. What can I do to fix because I dont want to buy a 500 dollor light

As much as I would like to trust both you and a knowledgeable auto parts seller, I think some pictures of what you have would be invaluable to this situation. Thank you for at least using punctuation.

You could convert it to hid, if yours is not equipped with hid, then you could get a ballast and you can install an hid bulb.

You need a ballast to get HID. If the ballast is the problem, then get a new one.

In order to make non HID, HID you need new bulbs and ballast to power them. In a perfect world you would convert the lenses as well as to not blind the crap out of oncoming traffic with the glare that the setup with the improper lenses produces. You can get bulbs and ballast from just about anywhere on the net. The lenses may be dealer only, that one I am not sure of. I know most people don't care about blinding others, as longs as they get blue light.
