Hallo

Hi, my name is Storm.

I'm from Pennsylvania and I just bought a 2010 RX8-R3 6MT with 20k miles on it for very cheap, I mean insanely cheap. The wife couldn't drive it well, so it was my gain--literally. You'd probably hate me if you knew what I paid for it.

The car is fun as all get out--pretty impressed with the rotary engine; look forward to the mod bug and turbo kit. I definitely going to debadge her, do the crazy M mod and paint it black, do want to do a black paint job on roof/hood/trunk to two tone it, and get an exhaust kit (that's fun, no idea what to get).

I originally started with my SHO but decided to stop and keep it as is and make it my daily driver--let the RX8-R3 be the toy for the weekends. The SHO is fully loaded with every option available, including the track package. I've got intake, exhaust, 93 octane tune, lowering kit, and TSW Nurburgs. I ran her on dyno at 367awhp and 478awtq.

I look forward to hanging out and learning new things about my R3.

Here is the SHO too.

Beautiful cars, both of them. Welcome and make sure to read the stickies at the top of this sub-forum! I can't stress how important the New Owners Start Here one is. Read it all! You'll thank us down the line.

So.. is your name really Storm? That's too cool.

You may want to do some research first. Your choice of terminology about modifications frankly scares me. I also hate to see a very unique car get mangled. There aren't that many R3s to begin with, and most of them are 2009s.

Please at least use vinyl for that "paint job" rather than actual paint. The two tone paint jobs that are posted here typically make it into the "what not to do to your car" thread, and when put up for sale, the sale price drops thousands below what a comparable car would be without the two tone bit.

Otherwise, welcome! (tentatively )

Yes, and I've read it thoroughly.

Don't worry mate; I'm not that crazy.

If I really think about it --

I do want to throw exhaust system in it, would like coilovers because I like to get a little more of a euro road hug going on like my SHO (I do not care for stance or "slamming" it.) However I need more time on the Bilsteins, so far she seems very in touch with road.

I've been researching turbo kits and I would definitely like to do that.

I did ponder the idea of black roof; seen some reds done up like that--they seem pretty neat, but may be rice-ish to mass.

All in all, this is my first "red" car ever in my life and I'm not young; all my cars have been black or white.

Either way, I'm going to enjoy the car because it's definitely fun!

Phew That's a relief

Yeah, the R3 is something special. Having test driven an R3 back to back with a Sport of the same year, the R3 is hands down a better car. It takes everything that makes a stock RX-8 good and just bumps it all up a notch. Incredibly capable car.

So, I'm thinking about picking up the new TurboXS kit + race pipe; it sounds good in videos and it's a good price. I'll probably have to change it when I put a turbo kit on but that'll be at least 12 months down road--by then I won't mind buying another system since I'll be investing A LOT just to get it turbo charged.

OH AWESOME!

Maybe we can get together and meet; I have few friends with RX8's that got me into it. Looking forward to meeting a bunch of rotary gearheads and owners.

shell runs the tx cat back but i think he has the bhr midpipe. the race pipe from tx will make your ears bleeed. theres no need to change the exhaust if you turbo just the manifold.

Yeah it is ridiculously, always being followed by cops, people flicking you the bird everywhere you go loud...

Welcome and if you check the NE subforum I'm having a BBQ Sept 15th. Kind of far from you, about 2.5hrs but you are welcome to come if you want to meet some other RX-8 members and have some fun at Autocross.

Again welcome to the board and very nice car

You would cry if I told you.

Welcome aboard, great cars. Please don't do two tone red/black, it is one of the most played out things ever on Velocity Red.

Nice SHO, I have a new found respect for SHO's after running into one a couple months back. I had no clue what kind of power they made at the time so initially I was really bummed that my turbo 8 could barely hang with one. But when I got home I read up on them and was blown away because this car appeared to be bone stock.

OK, but how about a black roof? Can I do a black roof?

Yes, the SHO is INSANE! I bought it as my primary ride and then started modding it. I was about to do a turbo upgrade to put me at 400+awhp and decided against it--hence why I bought the RX-8. I wanted a car that I could mod out like crazy that had a big community. The SHO market is very small; there are handful of people who do things--so right now a lot of fabrication or try things; not exactly what I want to do.

I do love my twin turbo, and everything inside it--she is VERY comfortable when it comes to very long rides.
