MA Grand Tour in my GT!

Need some advice for my 2010GT with about 41k miles on it. This summer, I will spend time time working in SoCal, and decided to take advantage of the situation by road-tripping there and back (I live in Boston). My 2010 is in good shape. Question is, what kind of preventative maintenance should I cash out for before I head off? A few are obvious: keeping up with oil changes, replacing my worn-down tires. What else should I do to make sure my RX8 runs smoothy? Thanks!

With 41k miles, you're likely running the original ignition system. This will all need to be changed (plugs, wires, and coils). Never hurts to inspect the catalytic converter, while you're at it. The health of the cat is tied to the health of the ignition system. You're likely fine, but better safe than stranded.

Plugs/coils/wires like Andrew said.

It's cheap and easy insurance to check your brake pads, as well.

If you're getting new tires, get your alignment checked.

IIRC, it's a little early for a coolant flush but it won't hurt anything to get it done.

Install new belts, inspect your coolant hoses.
Inspect your brakes, you're probably due for new pads AND rotors, if they've never been done, do them.
Fresh oil change, and change it before you return.
Ignition as previously mentioned, change air filter, clean ESS and MAF sensor.
New cabin air filter.

Seems excessive...

But if you're erring on the side of caution, then those are parts to have looked at.

Also proper tire wear and inflation

I don't think so.
Cross country in Summer with 41k miles already?
Belts for sure, the rest is probably needed maintenance anyway.

There are some long stretches of highway between exits in the West.
Better safe than sorry.

Especially if your running ***** out through CO, where exits can take forever, same with Kansas, making sure everything is in tip top shape is best. I've done a similar trip, MD to CO to bring my car home. Was tons of fun, wish I had had another day or two so I could have seen some Rotards on the way but yeah.
