Recently sold my slk230 and was wanting an rx8. I found one that looks really good and am getting a compression test on it on Monday. It’s a 2011 with 60k miles for 8 grand. Do you guys think it’s a good deal? It’s sport package I believe

 

Depends on the compression test. If the engine is good that sounds reasonable. If the engine is bad, it's $7k overpriced.

 

Being a recent purchaser I can tell you the crazy car market has even managed to pull up the value of rx8s. As usual for the rx8 the value centers around a well working power plant. The newer the engine, the better.

if the engine has good compression and the rest of the car is good, I would think 8k for a 60k car would be a very good deal.

nowadays, 8k can barely buy you a beater commuter car.

Also drive multiple rx8 so you can get a good idea what one runs like. I have driven cars that are under spec on compression but run strong. If the comp numbers are a little under spec, use that to drive the price down also knowing an engine replacement may be in its future.
