General restoration questions.

Hey everyone! First time poster, and RX-8 owner since January. It's a white 2009 model. Not sure what series (checked the owners manual, but have been busy). There are no frills, or mods. Your stock model, so you get the idea. It's in wonderful condition, as I bought it in FL. and the owner clearly loved the car. However, the poor thing did have to just suffer through its first Massachusetts winter and came out mostly unscathed (regular Washington, and cleanings). However, there are some scratches on the exterior; a few fairly deep. Also, there are several scratches and scuffs on the interior now. Some are just scratches, while others are splotches where the paint seems to actually be rubbing off.

This is on the vinyl near the doors, the wheels, dashboard, etc.

Basically, I'm just asking the more seasoned than I owners for tricks and general maintenance advice to get some of this stuff out. I love this car, and can't stand that it's there! It's my dream to, when I'm less busy, to begin really personalizing the car, but first I want to restore it to the best I can I get it.

Thanks!

Its an S2

Good thorough detail, maybe some wet sanding and buffing on the paint

Interior just a good clean, maybe some black renew on the worn pieces.

Would recommend discontinuing the use of the car through the winter if you want it to stay mint.

Provide us pictures of the car with the issues your having. I'm not an expert on this kind of stuff, but i watch a few shows about body work. I don't know if you need a new paint job on some spots, but its hard to tell if no pics are provided, or how far the damage is...

Gently run your fingernail over the scratch ... if your nail gets caught in it, its too deep to cut it out with compound. If you barely feel it, then you can give some nice cutting compound a shot. Luckily, Meguiars just came out with their DA polisher that you attach to a drill for those guys that dont want to spend money on a good orbital. Get that and some Meguiars 105 and you should be in business to get some of the light scuffs and scratches out of your paint.

And dont be scurred of NE winter ... jut got through my 3rd winter as a DD and the car looks brand new:

It all comes down to how you prepare for the seasons: (Grab yourself some nice Klasse AIO, and Wolfgang Polymer wax and it will protect you for 6 months)
