gear **** illumination power source

While messing around my gear **** fell apart. Mainly the shift pattern thing at the top. After this I realised it was the illuminated version. I've taken it all apart resoldered the board and got it all working off a battery. However no matter what I do no power comes through the harness side. Does the **** has its own fuse somewhere? Or is there only certain circumstances the **** illuminates?

Many thanks
Fraz

Hey,
I know this sounds stupid but the gear **** **** illuminates with the light on.
so power is not always at the plug socket. but it would be on the (room) fuse if it was a fuse, If I remember correctly.
if the wires you soldered are backwards it won't work.
hope this helps

Ah so it only illuminates when the door is opened basically? I have test the **** on a battery and it works just couldn't work out why I wasn't getting voltage from the harness. However everything I was trying was with the door closed.
