First-Time RX-8 Owner. Thank you.

Hey all,

I'm Bryan. I'm 32 and a new member here. First off, I wanted to thank this community for being here! I used this site as a major source for research when I was shopping. It was great to be able to browse the "start here" and DIY posts to see what I'd be getting into. So, Thank you all!

So, I bought my first RX-8 on Tuesday night and brought her home Wednesday night. She's a 2005 BB MT Sport with 103K miles. I drove a GT on Sunday with 84K on it it and there was a noticeable difference in power. My Isabelle pulls hard (After 5K, that is ;P) I'm a VERY happy 8 owner!

So, onto the pics

First night home!

In her cozy spot in the garage.

Gotta love that 48/52 weight distribution! (With me in the front, it's a perfect 50/50!)

Last PCM update looks like it was done a loooong time ago.

And the money shot

I'll try to get some daytime pics with my DSLR when I wash her up.

See you all around!
Bryan

I'm glad you were able to make use of the site and learn from our experiences. Even though I had owned RX7's before, there was a learning curve with the RX8 I bought new in 2004.

I don't think there's any power difference between the Sport and GT models with the RX-8. I know the manual has a little more HP.

The GT has additional features like traction control, sunroof, bose audio, leather, etc.

I own a 2010 sport. I just bought it this past Friday.

I think he was referring to a possible engine compression problem on the other car.

Thanks! No modifications yet. For now, I'm focusing on doing all of the "just bought a car" tune-up stuff like plugs, wires, filters, tires, cleanup, etc.

In the meantime, I'm going to drive the **** out of it and figure out exactly what, if anything, I want to change! So far, I'm loving every bit of it.

Yeah I was thinking that too. I was going to mention it but figured someone else would.

It's a shame these engines lose compression over time like that. I wonder if anyone has gotten an RX8 over 200K.

In fact, some 8's get get faster as they age.
