First test drive with the new NAPOL Coil packs and wires

Well I finally finished up with fluid changes. Finished 2 oil and filter changes... rear diffs... 6 speed trans oil... air filter... and plugs yesterday so today was "the big day" to test my new coil packs. I admit I had my reservations trying a new product that seemed so inexpensive to purchase. Well I can finally say they are in my car and running flawlessly thus far. I am impressed! At $150 per set with 10mm wires I was worried there had to be a catch. And who knows.... they may fry tomorrow but today after a long rip... the car came alive and even felt a bit angry. Smooth... Smooth... smooth... engine runs strong!
OF COURSE I cannot make a fair comparison to factory coils because I just bought the car with mystery mileage coils and wires. But I can say the car really feels like it hauls now for a stock rx8. But I'm far to new to be any sort of measuring tool on that statement.
What I did do however... Was change the plugs yesterday and went for a good ride. This way I could at least feel the difference in coils and wires alone compared to brand new plugs.
Initial thoughts are very positive... time will tell whether or not they hold up but they do come with a 5 year warranty so if they honor it properly that says something as well.
I will check back in throughout the summer and let everyone know how they are holding up. And believe me if they fail you WILL hear it from me I'm no fan boy of these guys.
As expected the check engine light came on after the initial firing up... But after a 10 minute ride it turned it off at the carwash and when I started it again the dash light was gone.

I also wanted to add that the wires themselves were longer and much thicker than stock. At first this was a concern until I realized that it allowed me to re-route the longer wires further away from the engine which will soon have a completely new header exhaust system installed when I can get to it. The thicker wires and ability to move them further out may turn out to be an advantage in the long run we shall see

I've always wondered about these coils. Kept seeing them on Amazon and the prices were very attractive but with no reviews or info here on the board I opted to stay away. Looking forward to more Posts to see how they perform in the long run.

Cheers

Ahh... every time you type a post its so easy for everyone to see why you have been on here for so long and not considered a reputable member. Hold your breath until your red in the face... stamp your feet. Clearly your only intention is to jump into a thread to get eveyones attention... and all the while nothing intelligent to add... and nothing constructive at all to add. In fact all of your posts in this thread HAVE NOTHING to do with the thread itself. You are just a childish... immature little boy. Time to go off into the corner and pout little boy. But before you do perhaps you can kindly direct me to that eBay wing you recommend as I have an account I order from EBAY all the Time! In case you were unaware eBay sells many high end name brand items as well.

Pay now for quality items or pay later. You will learn the hard way.

No, you shouldn't. You should inform yourself and come to your own conclusions. Idemitsu "rotary premix" is just dated 2 stroke, pretty much anything JASO FD certified that you can find at any auto parts store is better. Don't believe the hype.

Here is one of your posts 9k from Feb 16th 2011 @ 8:23am talking about how you have run many different brands of catback systems and the only two with fitment issues that YOU had WERE NAME BRANDS. You go on to state that YOU would not spend over $500 on any catback system for an rx8 yet just now you say buy the best but now all of a sudden you dont have a budget? But you did before? Which is it man? Get it yet??
Now I like good equipment too but you speak as if you know everything about every part ever made simply because a site with millions of different items sells them... good and bad. That is why I say you are an ignorant fool. Well that... and THIS POST OF YOURS of course...

"Yeah, I have installed most of the brand name exhausts ( Racing beat, HKS, Mazdaspeed, Turbo XS, Borla, Greddy, and Agency Power) and honestly the two I have had problems with regarding fitment were both brand name. Even my HKS had to be tweaked so that it did not hit the exhaust shroud.

It's your money but I would never pay over $500.00 for a catback system on the RX8. I just sold my HKS and I currently looking at the moment."

- 9krpmrx8

So let me see if I have this right you have run just about every top name brand out there... as you say...Racing beat, HKS, Mazdaspeed, Turbo XS, Borla, Greddy, and Agency Power and after all that at the time you were STILL looking for a catback system that worked for you?
What a hypocrite...

What a hypocrite...

See there is your problem, you don't read into things and you are easily trolled. I buy stuff on Ebay, so loosen your choker a bit fruity.

There are cheap shitty products and there are affordable products that are well made. Your wheel lugs spikes are an example of a shitty product and you will realize that when they are hot pink in a year. The coils are likely shitty as well, only time will tell. A budget has nothing to do with it, if you want it, you save for it. Those who don't, are just lazy or when it comes down to it they jus don't care whether it is a quality item or not.

You can get a quality new exhaust for $500.00ish in the 3" TurboXS catback so there is really no reason to spend $1500.00 other than the fact you like the sound better or you think it looks better. My comment was referring to new exhausts, and yes I have never paid more than $500.00 for an RX-8 exhaust system and I have had a few and have installed just about every system on the market for an RX-8 aside from the rare JDM systems. But when comes down to it you are not getting more for your money when you buy a new brand name exhaust, because an exhaust system on an RX-8 does basically nothing in terms of performance gains. Unless of course you are building a race car and care about weight but that doesn't apply for 99.9 of the people here. And yes, some of the name brand more expensive exhaust systems are known to have fitment problems and others such as the rusting issues with the Mazdaspeed exhaust.

Now, when talking about very important things such as ignition coils, well it gets more complicated as the coils are made using various designs and components and the cheapy coils has been proven to be crap. But if you don't mind replacing them every so often then that is your choice. When you buy better, proven coils with a warranty, then you don't have to worry. And depending on where your car is in the mod spectrum, ignition coils can be the difference in keeping your engine from grenading.

Hey 9k... you've posted exactly 6 times in this thread AND NOT ONE SINGLE POST OF YOURS... NOT SO MUCH AS ONE SINGLE STATEMENT YOU'VE MADE HAS HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE THREAD.
You've exposed yourself as a trouble maker and a hypocrite and the noob just took you to school today... CLASS DISMISSED! I'm out. Drive safe
EDIT: I was typing as you posted you made one attempt at a meaningful discussion thank you! Too bad it took you 7 posts to get there and sour the thread maybe next time

It's too bad you are ruining that poor Shinka. If you learn anything, I hope it's how to keep it clean.

I don't think it's physically possible to keep a Shinka clean. In fact I'd go as far to say the black cherry paint must be magnetic. Because I can spend 3 hours cleaning it and watch it accumulate dirt over a period of 5 minutes.

Black Mica has to be even worse. It's still the BEST color, though.

Some people have a destiny that involves nothing more than serving as a cautionary tale to others.
