ESS pigtail repair??

How can I repair this ess wire? Am I done for and need a new harness?
How can I repair this ess wires pigtail? Am I done for and need a new harness? I have a new pigtail can I solder it all and heat shrink it? Or do I need to ground that wire in the middle now since the copper shield is gone plus heat shrink the solders?

Hello Driftingdownhill,

welcome to the forum, I'm sure you can find a manual on here to fix that, wire lengths will have to be added, My personal choice here would be solder and heat shrink.

but i would get replacement parts form a wrecker or site, but getting the harness plug and enough wire to carry out repair. or another harness.

hope this helps

Thanks for the welcome
sounds good I will install a new pigtail today and new ess sensor, do you know if I need to ground the little wire sticking out in the middle to the body now since the ground shielding is gone?

In your photo you can see yellow/black wire that is your sensor earth (goes to sensor), then there is a yellow/red wire thats your power wire.
and the last wire is your signal back to ecu. you'll need to cut back the outer cover covering the 3 wires so the repair can start,
you'll need the signal wire to have it's own covering to make sure you don't get any external input form something else in your engine bay.

Thanks for quick response I soldered a new pig tail I got off a wrecked rx8 at the junker but did not ground that signal wire to anything or cover the signal wire at all it’s just got a little bit hanging out. the same amount in my photo. I then did a ess reset (20 pump on the brake) which the needle did move but car did not start.
