TN engine oil

When we first got the used RX8 (2004 with 98,000 miles) I joined this forum for information that will help me.
I soon found that you need to keep an eye on the oil level. And sure enough, I had to add oil in regular intervals.
Not so much anymore.
Sometimes I can go a month without adding any.
What caused the change?
Also I posted earlier today that now I am having to add engine coolant frequently, once a week at least.

It all seems good, but I'm wondering about these changes.

THANKS!

Could be that your oil lines are clogged? Or you've changed driving habits?

How much were you adding before and now?

You should never need to add coolant. So. Find out where it's going. If it's going into the oil, you have your answer. Get your oil changed and examine the used oil for milkyness, or get a used oil analysis.

A lack of oil consumption is bad but without knowing how far or hard you drive it is hard to say. For all we know you drive it once a month to the store and back. And yes if you are losing coolant you have a problem.

The engine oil consumption is load dependent. I can lose about 200 mL between fill-ups if I drive it hard, or have almost no loss if I drive a lot of highways. YMMV.

As for the coolant, borrow a coolant system tester to see if the coolant system will hold the pressure(I think it's about 10 psi? Somebody correct me if I am wrong). If not, find out where it's leaking. Sometimes it may be a hose, other times it may be a crack in the coolant reservoir neck.
