Engine not working

I love my 2005 Shinka, not sure why since it costs so much in maintenance, but here is the latest. The engine was replaced by the recall several years ago, by Mazda. It now has 63,000 miles on the new engine and Mazda says it is shot and needs replaced. WHY does the engine not last longer, but, the main issue is replacement. I owe 8,000 on the car, have no money, and now am told it will cost 7300 to replace the engine. Suggestions sorely needed. As a trade it they will give me 1000. help, in tears. wife of stinger

It would be good if you outlined what symptoms you're seeing. Are you still able to drive?
These engines do need a couple of things to be looked after pretty carefully: ignition coils, spark plugs, catalytic converters, oil.
7300 is steep though, shouldn't be that much and you have cheaper/better options outside of the dealer.

You owe 8k on a 2005? Yikes. It's hard to say, but the cause of failure could be a few things so who knows who is to blame. How many miles are on the Chassis? I mean a ten year old car is a ten year old car, **** is going to break. It just sucks that it is something major. But engine replacements in RX-8's and high maintenance costs are no secret in the RX-8 world.

Either suck it up and fix it or get rid of it and eat the loss and trade it in on something cheap and reliable.

The engine has 60,000 miles and this is the second engine! This is a design flaw and is not stated anywhere from Mazda to expect the engine not to run more than that. In many cases, according to our dealership, they die before then. I don't mind sucking up wear and tear but not on a newish engine. I take good care of my car and Mazda agrees with this and has said so. Anyone get any sort of recompense from Mazda. i have heard of a few cases that have been successful at getting them to help.

Actually, most Renesis engines enjoy a long, healthy life - just like any other engine.

But you won't read about that here. Satisfied car owners of this or any other brand don't find their way to car forums to post "I'm enjoying my car and have no major problems". Human nature. I've had mine for over 9 years / 31K miles and have yet to have a problem.

No there is no recompense from Mazda. It did have an 8 year/100,000 mile warranty.
Some dealers know less about these engines than the users.

You still haven't listed what the actual problems are. Maybe you don't need a new engine at all.

What work has been done on the car since you've had it?

As stated above, several times, if you want and educated response, you will have to provide more information on which to base an answer. How is the car performing (loss of power, hard start etc) will it run at all? What service has NOT been done ( many times an overlooked service item can lead to a failure that could resemble total c-f) Is it throwing any codes? If so, which ones?

Be concise but be thorough and list ALL the symptoms you are encountering.

++ ^^ share where you are. I just had a complete rebuild, with no usable parts from my old motor, and it was less than that, including removal, installation, radiator, clutch, release bearing and one other thing I think I forgot.

If you share, people can recommend local shops.
