Engine Help
I am sorry, I have posted this two times in the wrong place; and do not know if I can delete them. Anyway dealer is saying my 2004 manual rx8 engine needs to be replaced, got the compression test done and my friend who races them in new mexico says it needs to be replaced or rebuilt. The dealership quoted me 7000$ for engine and installation, I don't have that right now. Any suggestion on who or where I can take/get a new engine. I live in upstate NY 30 min from Albany. Just bough the rx8 from a friends friend who said he had it rebuilt; which was clearly a lie. Thanks for the help!

You've come to the right place.
Do you have the tools and mechanical acumen to remove the motor and tear it down to a short block? If so, there are several places you can have it shipped to and rebuilt for significantly less than the quote from your Mazda dealer.
