Question Engine bay cleaning

So, I want to get my girl looking a bit more respectable. The person that owned it before took good care of it mechanically, from what I can tell, but the engine bay is a bit on the cruddy side, which bugs me, as I like things to be clean.
That being said, is there anything I need to be mindful of when getting things cleaned up? Anything I shouldn't get wet, etc?

Thanks!

most of the components are new cars are water resistant but with that said, I'm still very careful around certain items.
Alternator
PCM
fuse box
battery

You can use plastic grocery bags to cover those areas. Depending on how dirty the engine bay is, sometimes a wet microfiber town will do wonders.
If it needs more then that, you can use some diluted simple green.

Just to make sure, try to cover the electrical parts.
