Cutting out once engine is up to running temp

I've just bout a 2006 rx8 done 39k it keeps cutting out once engine is upto temp. It's not over heating and oil temp is good. I've put new coils, leads and plugs on and it still has this problem. It has the hot start problem as well but I've ordered an after market heavy duty starter motor that I hope will rectify that problem. It is my first rotary engine so any advice would be much appreciated.

Also what kind of oil should I run in the car as I've read so many different types and how much oil should my car burn?

Did you get a compression check of the engine?

Read the new and potential owners sticky found at the top of the new members forum. read all you can about oil and make your own choice based on your research.

No I didn't get a compression test. Are these engines known to have compression issues with such low mileage? I'm starting to think it could be the cat clogged up l.

It's not unheard of to have low compression with low mileage.

Again, read the thread I mentioned. Many of your answers can be found there.

Run any oil you like that is suitable for the climate the car lives in. Most of us run heavier than the 5W20 recommended by Mazda. I run 10W30 Ford Motorcraft full synthetic in my RX8.

The amount of oil you'll burn depends entirely on your driving style. You can use a half quart in a day at the track or a half quart in a thousand miles ... just depends. You might consider pre-mixing, I do. 8 oz. good 2-stroke oil poured into the gas tank before filling up with 10 gallons of 93 octane.
