I bought my car back in May, and figured these were once decals or false vents. They're on either side, Infront of the rear wheel, and a small place under the suicide door. They are most definitely an eye-sore.
Standing from far away, it's not THAT noticeable. They still can catch the eye, though.
Any ideas on what these could have been? Or how I take the remaining plastic off?
It's just a rock chip strip. Wash it in hot water or wait until the sun warms it up, peel it off, use goop off to get off any residue. Or leave it on. Depending on your climate it might bake it on and you'll have to strip the paint and scrape it off to get it off. If your in the desert climes, might be better taking it off.

I live in the middle of Tennessee, and out climate always varies each season. Kind of hard to tell.
Don't mess with it, imo.
Unless it REALLY bothers you.
It's an S1, so they've been on there for 10 years.
Unless you've had experience with body work and touching up paint jobs, that's one can of worms best left unopened.
Mazda put it on there for a reason, you don't want that area to get scratched up with rocks. It has yellowed quite a bit, so maybe replace it with more modern clearbra. But don't leave that area bare.
