RX8 swap

I need some help please I purchased a 2005 RX8 and the motor is now gone out I have just bought a 2099 RX8 with 35 thousand miles Its totaled but has a ton of good parts. My problem is I know that I have to swap the ecm and wiring harnesses but the 09 is a standard and 05 is automatic so what so I do about this any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are a bunch of threads about various engine swaps, and the issues/difficulties going between revisions and AT/MT. The search bar is your best friend here.

You are trying to go Series 1 automatic to series 2 manual. I dont think that particular engine swap has been attempted. Automatic to manual can be done, as can series 1 to series 2. But both at once....best of luck!

Thank you for the write up. I serviced my car last night and did about 80% of what you recommended in the first post. Very helpful.

If you have one with a rotary compression tester near you then yeah if not then you have to take it to the dealer but your supposed to use the rotary compression tester otherwise you get inaccurate readings

If it has pretty good compression then yeah it's an alright deal but if it has low compression than either sell it while it still runs or be prepared to have the engine rebuilt or replaced in the future

I did not find a DIY here. And, I do not have any pictures of when I did it. Basically, with the air box out, shove the round pipe insulation into any gap around the radiator that exists. If anyone takes pictures of what this looks like, ideally while they do it, or has a procedure, please let me know. I searched and could not find one.

Here are a few pics from mine in case it helps anyone...

I just added the zipties for an extra measure of preventing movement.
